Comparing My Catch
Since I am an avid fisherman, I am extremely jealous of this guy. I know I shouldn’t be. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s fish. That may not be explicitly spelled out in the Bible, Last summer, I caught a bass that weighed almost five pounds. I was thrilled with my “big” catch. I was thrilled, that is, until I compared it to a bigger catch. Comparing is really a loser of a deal. For example, you may be content with your ’98 Camry until you compare it to somebody else’s ’06 Lexus. That’s why comparing is a bad idea. Comparing destroys contentment. God reminds us in Hebrews 13:5, Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ God is enough. He is all-sufficient. He is all we need. That’s why we can be satisfied, regardless of our circumstances. I can be satisfied if someone makes more money than me or drives a better car than me…even if they catch a bigger fish than me. In His Love, Mike P.S. - It appears that we have found a buyer for our house in Indiana. If all goes smoothly, we should close within a month. Thanks to everyone who has made this a matter of prayer.

Check this out. Mac Weakley recently caught a largemouth bass that weighed…are you ready for this? 25.1 pounds! This lunker was caught on Dixon Lake in southern California. For perspective, my son, Ryan, only weighs about 4 pounds more than this fish!
but I’m sure it’s there if you read between the lines. I’ll just blame John Bach for my jealousy since he’s the guy who informed me of this new world-record catch in the first place.
