Fishing In Church
This past weekend was a fantastic time for our church. Our APEX kick-off was unbelievably successful. More than 50 people came out to worship together and I was so encouraged by their response after the service. And then came the time of fellowship, which was simply spectacular! I was really uplifted as I watched our church family connecting. And then came Sunday. What a great day! The spirit of our people was upbeat. Our church was united in worship. The response after a pretty tough message was great. I watched love and encouragement being dished out all through our church family. I left this weekend with a special feeling. Our church isn’t the picture of idyllic perfection. There are problems and struggles. But this weekend reminded me that, in spite of all its messy imperfections, there are good things that happen in the church that don’t happen anywhere else. And I’ve gotta tell you…weekends like this one remind me that there’s nowhere else I would rather be. I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.” (Psalm 122:1) In His Love, Mike

Earlier this week I went fishing with my dad and my younger brother. We fished a farm pond that is owned by a friend of my dad. The pond isn’t much to look at. It’s surrounded by trees and brush, which can make fishing difficult. It is also the favored watering hole for a couple of rather stubborn mules that must constantly be chased away. This pond doesn’t sound like the ideal fishing spot. But on this day, we absolutely lit that pond on fire! It was one of the best fishing days I’ve had in years. It didn’t matter that the surroundings weren’t perfect. On this day, there was nowhere else I would have rather been.
