The Connection

The Connection - Honor

brianOne of the qualities that is lost on today's culture is Honor.

Honor is defined as:
1) high esteem or deferential admiration
2) fidelity to principles or obligations

If you think about it, people make promises all the time and are guilty of breaking them all the time. Our word has become nothing. In one of my favorite movies, "Hook", Robin Williams is talking to his son and he says, "My word is my bond." His son, Jack, looks back at him and replies, "Yeah...junk bond."

We don't honor anything anymore.....but we should.

Paul, in Colossians 3:17, tells us that whatever we do, whether in word or deed, we should do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, bringing glory to God.

Three features are involved in this command. First, the scope of the activity is inclusive (whatever you do in word or deed). Second, activities should be done under the complete authority and approval of Jesus Christ (do all in the name of the Lord Jesus). Third, we should seek to bring honor and glory to God because we have the unique privilege and responsibility of living for Him. We must constantly acknowledge that we do not deserve to have anything either in this life or the next because we are all sinners saved by grace.

So we need to watch carefully what we say and what we do, because we need to honor God all the time, not just when it's convienient for us. Keep that word in your thoughts this week......HONOR.

In His Love,

Brian Morrissey

Upcoming Events

Easter Program Dress Rehearsal - Saturday, April 15th - 7:00 pm

Easter Sunday - April 16th
He is Risen!!! Join us on Easter Sunday as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. The Amelia Church of Christ Choir will present "Like a Lamb," our 2006 musical as well as Mike Edmisten's presentation of the final "Dying to Live" message. The morning will begin at 9:00 with an Easter breakfast followed by the Worship service at 10:30. There will be no Sunday School.

Easter Sunday is a great opportunity for us. First of all, it’s a great opportunity to worship and celebrate our risen Lord. Secondly, it’s a great opportunity to welcome new faces into our church family. Please remember to save the best parking spaces for our guests. If at all possible, drive one family car and leave the closest spaces for our guests. Also, please save the best seats in the auditorium for our guests. We’re asking all our people to sit up front and sit toward the middle of the row, leaving the back rows and aisle seats for our guests. This Easter Sunday, let’s pray like it depends on God but work like it depends on us!

Clothing Drive - This is the last week to bring in clothing for the Ukraine.  Drop off your donations at Ralph Beighle's house or put them in the balcony.
