Sports Camp Wraps Up with a Bang
June 25, 2011

With more than 400 people attending our family night, we had an incredible finish to our Sports Camp 2011 Friday. Those photos will be coming soon, but in the meantime, be sure to check out the hundreds of images posted already on the ACC Facebook page. Thanks to April Dooley for serving as our photographer.

Why We Serve
June 23, 2011

Mike Morrissey is helping ACC plug our people into our serving ministry. Here he offers thoughts on why we serve.

“Jesus says, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

We are a church on the move. We need every church member to act on faith and move within the walls of the church through service. Think about a church without small group leaders, weekend tech folks, communion preparers, gardeners, etc. What would it be like? Reaching in to our church family prepares the church for action. That’s what a church on the move is all about; everyone is needed to make this church move down the many paths God places us on.

As a church, we value serving. Because we are a growing church, we continually have new volunteer needs so we may reach those people God brings through our doors. God has chosen us to serve and through our actions, attitudes and words, we will impact the Kingdom of God and the lives of His people for eternity.

At Amelia Church of Christ, we strongly believe that each person is designed with a purpose — a purpose to live our lives for Christ and through this, we use our talents and gifts to serve Him and grow His kingdom. We are made to serve Him. The quality of our service is a direct reflection of our love for God and for other people.

“Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men…” Ephesians 6:7

We believe that serving in the church is an honor and an act of worship. Church members serve with their God-given gifts because they understand that God has created them uniquely. By serving, volunteers are not only connected to the church, but they have fellowship with their church family, grow spiritually, and help connect others to one another and Jesus. This is fully in keeping with the vision at ACC: Connect, Grow, Serve.

Contact Mike Morrissey to discuss service needs.

God is blessing our Sports Camp in an incredible way. Nothing illustrates that quite like all the photos of hundreds of kids having a blast playing their sports and worshipping Jesus together.

ACC Making an Impact in Appalachia
June 23, 2011

mission.pngOne of our Small Groups, led by Jason and Cindy Taggart, is in the middle of their week-long mission trip. They return this Friday, June 24, but Jason offers the following report from the field:

This week has been going very well.  We are staying at Cumberland Mountain Outreach, which is a camp/mission for this area of Beattyville, KY.  The missionary is Cindy Feller.  We have been tasked with building a porch, and replacing a second one so that Michelle and Wayd Taylor could get insurance on their trailor.  They had no porch on the front, and the one they were using was badly deteriorated.

Also this week, we have been growing in Christ and with each other as we work together to perform these tasks that NONE of  us know/knew how to do before this week. We have been praying together over the this week and sharing testimonies and devotions with each other.  Our family that we have been working with has an older son who is dealing with a serious drug addiction, and has been to the hospital already twice this week.  This is a serious issue here in this area. We have been praying him up and ask that you all do the same. They are trying to find a place to take him to go through detox.

Overall, it has been a great bonding experience so far and we cannot wait to come home and share our stories and pictures with you all.
