May 10, 2007
On May 6, 2007, our elders made a very exciting announcement about our move to two Sunday morning worship services beginning June 10. Read on to get all of the details.

NOTE: These times changed as of August 19, 2007

Beginning June 10, the new Sunday schedule will be as follows:

First Service 8:15am - 9:15am
Bible Classes 9:30am - 10:15am
Second Service 10:30am - 11:30am

The two services will be identical in both style and content.

We will continue to offer our full complement of children’s classes in our second service. We would stretch our volunteer staff far too thin if we attempted to offer full children’s programming in both services.

From Mike via our monthly newsletter

Our church is on the right track. I’m not saying we’re perfect. There are a million opportunities for us to continue to improve. But on the whole, ACC is on the right track.

We need to heed a little bit of Will Rogers’ wisdom. The famous comedian said, “Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.”

It is precisely because we’re on the right track that we can’t afford to sit still. We’ve got to stay on the offensive. We’ve got to be proactive instead of reactive. We’ve got to make decisions that have a vision for the future. And our leaders have decided to do just that by transitioning our church into a two service format.

We fully understand that this isn’t going to be an easy transition. We can expect some mistakes along the way…and that’s ok. We can’t let fear of mistakes keep us from making the right decisions.

This transition might feel a little awkward at first. That’s ok, too. Ken Blanchard wrote, “Awkwardness is natural. If people aren’t feeling awkward doing something new, they’re not doing something new.

As Yance Pyle reminded us on Sunday, church growth experts have long stated that when a church campus is 80% full, it’s full. We’ve gone way beyond 80% capacity, both in our auditorium and in our parking lot. If we don’t transition to two services, we will essentially place a cap on the amount of growth we can handle. God’s grace is limitless. His invitation to those who are lost is wide open. Therefore, our ability to welcome new people must remain wide open as well.

As another one of our elders, John Bach, said, “This is a bold step of faith. It isn’t about us anymore. This isn’t about us and our comfort level. This is about sharing the grace of Christ with Amelia and beyond. It seems to me our options are to grow (spiritually and numerically) or resist and stand still and maybe even stagnate. After a while, option two starts to stink.

Excited To Be Moving Forward with You,

Mike
