ACC kicked off its second annual free Sports Camp at the Batavia Township Park Complex in a big way.
Though hot and humid, the storms held off long enough Monday for nearly 200 area kids to work up a shirt-drenching sweat while having a blast learning and playing Basketball, Flag Football, Soccer, Cheerleading and Sports of All Sorts.
Tuesday night was highlighted by special guest John Goebel, senior running back with the University of Cincinnati football team. No. 22 shared personal stories from his life and how God has impacted his team’s success on the field (two-time Big East champs) and how he has dealt with adversity along the way.
The fun, singing and dancing continues for three hours every night this week through Friday, June 18, as youngsters hone their athletic skills while picking up lots of God-honoring lessons in their huddle groups about being a good sport and “The Great Comeback.”
A huge thanks to Director Marie Young and all our dozens of volunteers including the stage staff, head coaches, assistant coaches, huddle coaches, water runners, snack squad, parking police, nursing team, security detail, cleanup crew as well as the entire set-up and tear-down gang.
All of the hard work and donations are paying off as we serve our community. Please continue to pray for the many children, their families and all the volunteers this week.
